Format

The Major follows the structure in Valve’s Major rulebook: three Swiss stages of 16 teams, then an eight-team playoff.

  • Stage 116 teams. In a Swiss stage, teams play opponents with the same win-loss record. Three wins advance, three losses eliminate. The top eight go to Stage 2.
  • Stage 2the eight teams from Stage 1 join eight teams invited straight to this stage. The top eight go to Stage 3.
  • Stage 3eight advancing teams and eight directly invited teams. The top eight reach the playoffs.
  • Playoffssingle elimination. Valve’s rulebook sets playoff matches as best of three, and PGL has announced a best-of-five grand final.

In the Swiss stages, matches that decide advancement or elimination are best of three; all other matches are best of one. Matches are played on the Active Duty map pool in force at the time of the event. Seeding, map vetoes and tiebreakers are explained in How CS2 Majors work.

How teams get in

All 32 teams are invited through Valve’s regional rankings, the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), which cover Europe, the Americas and Asia. Sixteen teams go to Stage 1, eight to Stage 2 and eight to Stage 3. A region gets one direct Stage 2 invitation for each of its teams that reached Stage 3 of the previous Major, and one Stage 3 invitation for each team that reached the playoffs. If a team declines and no other ranked team is available, the remaining places go to a last-chance regional qualifier.

We will add the teams to this page when the invitations are confirmed.

Prize pool

The prize pool is $1.25 million, according to the venue.
