The same release notes list these Inferno changes:

- Thinner pillars on the awning in Alt Mid, and lights added to the balcony in Alt Mid
- Some spots where the C4 could get stuck fixed
- The pretty flowers behind the yellow car in banana removed, with “a ton of flowers” added in other areas to compensate
- The dog in the apartments calmed down
- Tree boost spots removed
- A chicken coop added to T spawn, and the maximum chicken population changed from 10 to 12
- Relaxing flamenco music added back to T spawn
- Shooting through the box in the middle of Bombsite A made possible
On April 21, 2016, Valve reintroduced Nuke to the Active Duty map group and moved Inferno to the Reserves. Nuke was to be one of the seven maps played at the CS:GO Major Championship at ESL One Cologne 2016.
On Oct. 13, 2016, Valve posted “Inferno Returns!” and wrote that Inferno was now available in the Reserves Map Group. Valve wrote: “From its iconic layout to its core gameplay, Inferno has been an instant classic and a mainstay in competitive CS:GO through the years.”
On Feb. 3, 2017, after the ELEAGUE Major, Valve moved Inferno back to Active Duty in place of Dust II. Valve wrote that Inferno would be featured at the next CS:GO Major. Dust II stayed easy to play: Valve wrote that it was now front and center on the Competitive Matchmaking map selection screen.
Inferno in CS2, 2023 to 2026
In a post published Aug. 31, 2023 (4:22 p.m. PDT), Valve announced an update to the CS2 Limited Test with a new map, Inferno, and the new CS Rating. Valve wrote that players get a CS Rating by playing matches in the updated Premier mode, which it described as its Active Duty Pick-Ban competitive mode.
The April 25, 2024 update listed three Inferno changes:
- The overhanging building at top mid was removed.
- The overhangs at the bottom of banana were removed.
