Valve added a new eligibility condition for Regional Assignment in the Counter-Strike 2 Major supplemental rulebook on Oct. 6. According to the commit message, the update is for the upcoming Singapore Major.

The change is one new sentence in the rulebook, published in Valve’s counter-strike_rules_and_regs repository on GitHub. It reads: “A roster is only eligible for a Regional Assignment if they did not appear in any other region’s VRS list in the preceding three calendar months.”

How Regional Assignment works

The rulebook sets these rules:

  • Rosters in each world region are sorted via Valve Regional Standings (VRS).
  • A roster’s Regional Assignment is the region represented by the majority of its players.
  • If a roster is tied, its Regional Assignment is the region with greater representation in the Major, in this order: Europe, then Americas, then Asia.

Where the new sentence sits

The new sentence sits directly below those rules, ahead of the Invitation Process section. That section says invitations will be sent to intact rosters, per the invitation requirements earlier in the document.

The commit changes only that one line in major-supplemental-rulebook.md.

Why it matters

Rosters that appeared in another region's VRS list in the preceding three calendar months are not eligible for a Regional Assignment at the Singapore Major.
