PGL reveals 14 invited teams for Bucharest 2027, opens qualifiers
PGL named 14 teams invited to PGL Bucharest 2027 via the Global VRS. European Open Qualifiers start Oct. 11, with the Closed Qualifier set for Oct. 16-20.

PGL has announced the 14 teams invited to PGL Bucharest 2027, the opening event of the 2027 Counter-Strike 2 season. The remaining spots will be decided in the European Open and Closed Qualifiers, and registration for the Open Qualifiers is now open.
The tournament runs from Jan. 17 to Jan. 24, 2027, in Bucharest, Romania, with $1.4 million on the line: $1 million in winnings and $400,000 in Valve Regional Standings (VRS) bonuses. While the Main Event is played on LAN, the qualifiers are held online.

European Open Qualifiers
Both Open Qualifiers are single-elimination events. Matches are best of one, switching to best of three from the quarterfinals. One team from each qualifier advances to the Closed Qualifier.

European Closed Qualifier
The Closed Qualifier runs from Oct. 16 to Oct. 20 with eight teams: six invited via the European VRS and the two teams that came through the Open Qualifiers. It is double elimination with every match played as a best of three. The top two teams qualify for PGL Bucharest 2027.
PGL said the event opens its CS2 competitive calendar for 2027.
Why it matters
Teams outside the invite list now have a path to the first event of the 2027 CS2 season, and registration for the first Open Qualifier is already live.
