Organizers of the next Counter-Strike 2 Majors expect Valve to rework how Major stickers are sold and plan to talk to the company about it, Cybersport.ru reported on Nov. 5. The report cites an interview Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes, co-founder and CEO of FiReSPORTS, gave to Dust2 Brasil. Cybersport.ru says FiReSPORTS will run the first event of the series in 2027.
What Figueroa Reyes said
Figueroa Reyes said he thinks the sticker question will be settled now, at the Singapore Major. He said PGL owner Silviu is on very close terms with Valve and that he is sure Silviu will secure improvements together with Valve and Steam.
He also said FiReSPORTS has a direct line to Valve and talks and consults with the company often. After the Singapore Major, he said, the people at Steam will hate them, because from day one they will try to find out how Steam plans to solve the sticker issue. He added that the stickers’ success matters to the community, players and tournament organizers.
How sticker sales changed
Cybersport.ru wrote that Major stickers were previously sold in capsules tied to tournament stages, and buyers got a random sticker from inside. Revenue followed the sales of each set. A team capsule split its money between the eight organizations whose logos were inside, and an autograph capsule between 40 players. Valve did not set how payouts were divided between clubs and players; contracts decided that.
IEM Cologne Major 2026 moved away from that model, according to the outlet. Valve let users buy any sticker directly and set a 50-50 split between the organization and the players. Cybersport.ru reported that the change caused financial difficulties for some clubs and led to disputes over payout ratios under the terms of individual contracts.
The outlet added that Valve had not shared how stickers will be distributed at the Singapore Major when it published.
Why it matters
Organizers of upcoming Majors plan to talk to Valve about sticker sales, Cybersport.ru reported. Valve had not shared the system for the Singapore Major at the time of the report.
