Valve released a Counter-Strike 2 update on Oct. 14, with changes to the demo and replay viewer, round backup files, the AUG and the Vulkan renderer. The patch notes were posted at 4:02 p.m. PDT.

Demo and replay viewer

The update lists four changes to the viewer:

  • Demo and replay downloads now have a progress bar.
  • Camera controls use a click-and-drag scheme.
  • Free and chase camera can be used while a demo is paused.
  • Some minor issues when seeking to a different position in the demo file are fixed.

Round backups, AUG and tools

Round backup files now require the game server startup flag -allow_round_backup_files.

Valve updated the AUG reload animations for standing and crouch reloads to better match the new reload duration. Valve also wrote that allowed radio commands now have an explicit list.

For CS2 Workshop Tools, Valve added a skybox occluder tool material. The update also includes stability improvements for the Vulkan renderer.

Why it matters

Servers that use round backup files must now be started with the `-allow_round_backup_files` flag. Demo and replay viewers get new camera controls and a download progress bar.
