BETBOOM TEAM’s Counter-Strike 2 roster will not play PGL Major Singapore 2026 under the name BoomBoys, Cybersport.ru reported on Nov. 6. The outlet said club CEO Artem “pioneer” Savelyev hinted at this in Telegram.
Where BoomBoys came from
BoomBoys is the tag under which the BETBOOM TEAM Dota 2 roster played The International 2026, Cybersport.ru reported. The team had to take a temporary name because of Valve’s restrictions on betting branding and Chinese law.
Savelyev said other versions were considered at the time: Backstreet Boys, BooBoo Team and 88 Team. He also mentioned that in countries where the club’s full name is banned, the team plays under the tag BB Team.
Other clubs in the same position
Cybersport.ru wrote that information had appeared earlier saying several clubs would have to change their logos and names for the Major because of a ban on gambling advertising in the host country. Besides BETBOOM TEAM, it named 1w Team, PARIVISION and BCGame. The outlet said the head of BCGame had already confirmed a tag change for the event.
According to Cybersport.ru, the organizers had not officially announced a ban on club logos and naming at the time of its publication.
